At Flourish Surgical Arts, we offer buccal fat pad removal to help patients achieve more defined, more sculpted cheekbones. For some adults, overly full cheeks can cause the face to look rounder or less defined than desired. Thanks to advances in facial slimming methods, it is now possible to enhance cheekbone definition and achieve a more sculpted appearance.
Our skilled triple-board surgeon, Dr. John R. Nesiba, has a particular talent for subtle, refining procedures that augment the face without interrupting its natural harmony. Whether looking to enhance angular features or achieve a more mature, chiseled aesthetic, our approach ensures results that appear natural and refined.
Buccal fat pad removal is a cosmetic procedure that thins and contours the lower cheeks by removing excess fat from the buccal fat pads. It enhances cheekbone definition and provides the face with a more chiseled appearance. During the procedure, Dr. Nesiba makes small incisions inside the mouth to carefully remove a portion of the excess buccal fat pad. This way, he creates a naturally sculpted look without any visible scarring and creates youthful facial contours.
Swelling takes two to four weeks to resolve and reveal more natural breast contours. Patients must avoid pressure on the breasts, strenuous exercise, and excessive movement in order to maximize fat survival. Compression garments may be worn to support the donor region and reduce swelling.
The procedure is relatively quick and minimally invasive. So patients can return home on the same day. Following the procedure, they can feel some swelling, tenderness, and bruising of the cheeks. Since incisions are placed inside the mouth, a soft diet is recommended for the first few days to minimize irritation. Discomfort can be managed with prescribed pain medication and cold compresses. Dr. Nesiba provides detailed aftercare instructions, including oral hygiene, to prevent infection.
