The anchor mastopexy, also known as the inverted-T breast lift, is the most comprehensive technique. It requires three incisions – one around the areola, a vertical incision from the bottom of the areola to the breast crease, and a horizontal incision along the crease. This creates an “anchor” shaped scar on the breast, which is how it got its name. During this type of mastopexy, the surgeon can reshape a significant amount of underlying breast tissue and remove excess skin. The anchor technique is the best approach to address moderate to severe sagging.
